3DM Export for Acrobat
3DM Export for Acrobat is a Rhinoceros 3DM file export plug-in for Acrobat®. This plug-in gives Acrobat the ability to export objects from 3D PDF file in Acrobat to 3D polygon mesh objects in a Rhinoceros 3DM file.
3DM Export for Acrobat tessellates objects in a 3D PDF into a set of triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to a 3DM file as mesh objects. The 3DM file can then be imported into a variety of CAD applications.
3DM Export for Acrobat is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Acrobat and adds a new submenu called "3DMExport" to the Acrobat menu.
The new commands are:
Export - Export to a 3DM file
Help - Displays the 3DM Export for Acrobat help file
Register - Displays the 3DM Export for Acrobat product registration dialog box
About - Displays the 3DM Export for Acrobat about box
The 3DM File Format
The 3DM (3D Model) file format is the native file format of Rhinoceros, the NURBS modeling software from Robert McNeel & Associates. The OpenNURBS Initiative was founded by Robert McNeel & Associates in January 2000, with the sole purpose of providing CAD, CAM, CAE and computer graphics software users reliable methods for transferring 3D geometry between applications via the 3DM file format. TerrainCAD, our terrain generation, editing and modeling software, also uses the 3DM file format as its native file format.
